120 Days to go: Monopoly Run

Hi Everyone
Its been a long time, school and mocks and revision and camps have taken over and unfortunately I've just not had the time to write anything about the Jamboree.

First things first, it seems to have sunk in that the Jamboree is less than 4 months away and I think I can speak for pretty much everyone going when I say we are so incredibly excited ! I am half way through another post about my favorite parts of the jamboree so you'll hear more about what I've most enjoyed and what I'm most looking forward to soon, but for now, here is what Unit 8 got up to on our last training weekend...

The London Monopoly Run

The aim of our monopoly run was to visit all the places on our given side of the monopoly board as well as completing the chance cards and community chest cards we were given. The whole reason we decided to do this as a unit was to get used to moving around a city in our patrols, as well as practicing navigating the tube and keeping hold of everyone !

My patrol were given the pink and orange side; turns out I'm not only incapable of playing Monopoly (something I already knew) but I also can't read a tube map or make my way round London particularly well. That said, we did actually manage to get to all but one of the locations, complete most of our extra challenges and get to the lunch meeting point first.

Tackling the underground
We tried to spell vine . . .
A quick visit to the Japanese Embassy
Making our mark at Whitehall
Jumping off Northumberland Avenue
Once we had finished the Monopoly run, we were meant to be eating at 'wok and walk', a Japanese stir fry take away place, however, seeing as it was cold and spitting, my patrol weren't particularly keen on it. So, thanks to Julia, we managed to fit the whole unit into Wagamama in Covent Garden,, that's all 34 of us ! It was also Matt's birthday, so, we rounded off the day with a birthday (slice of) cake and a rendition of Happy Birthday.

So, that's the March meeting in a nutshell, its officially been over a year since I first met the unit and, as cheesy as it sounds, I've loved every second I've spent with them.

Thanks for reading
Lauren :)
